Mushroom foraging in the Pacific northwest is one of my favourite fall hobbies!

My name is Kitty Kanhoffen, I am a teacher as well as an outdoor enthusiast. My passion for the outdoors first started when I was introduced to fishing through my husband Daniel in 2012 and it expanded quickly when I began co-hosting on Fishing with Rod. The curiosity did not kill this Kitty, but has only furthered my passion beyond fishing, which now includes foraging and hiking in British Columbia, Canada.

On this channel, you will find a collection of videos which document my adventures, discoveries, successes and mistakes. My videos include fishing, mushroom hunting and hiking. Thanks for stopping by and please subscribe! 🎣🍄🏔

Thank you everyone for watching! I hope this inspires you to get outdoors to forage. Here on Vancouver Island I am hoping for a couple more weekends of fall flushes!

A recent study says mushrooms may have evolved on earth between 715 and 810 million years ago. Here in NW Indiana, Morels and chicken of the woods are a special delight.

I love fishing and I love foraging mushrooms. Good thing I live in the PNW!!! You inspired me and now I am hooked on foraging mushrooms. You mentioned it in some of the vids. I studied. And found some of the best mushroom spots remote along side my fav steelhead creek. Keep the vids flowing. ~peace. p.s. that pizza looked great!

Chanterelle mushrooms are so delicious! I went foraging a few weeks ago but all the chanterelles were frozen.

That PIZZA looks like Da Bomb! BTW, are chanterelles available in the spring and summer? Google indicated so but I've always just found them in the fall?

Kitty, I love your approach to mushrooms. i will follow you. And today I found my very first lobster mushroom. The smell freaked me out. But I will try it. I am a committed bolete picker so anything new is great. Your overview on chanterelles taught me a lot of new stuff.

I really enjoyed this video. So far I've been huckleberry picking in Washington state, Morel hunting last spring and found my first Chanterelle this year. Foraging is fun and healthy thanks for sharing tips with us.
