One day I was doing something and suddenly this song came to me; namely the words 'how you suffered for your sanity' and 'they never listened'. I swear, even though I've heard the song before and I clearly knew the lyrics, the actual meaning hit me like a train. I dropped what I was doing, I sat down and just stared into space. felt like I belonged in this group of people who can relate to each other, who collectivelly suffer for seeing the ugliness of this world, and yet manage to find so much beauty in it. I felt proud that this song could very much be about me, or any aspiring or struggling artist. How we suffer for our sanity...and they call US insane, because they can't see.

My father used to listen to this song when I was a little boy, now I'm a 30 years old man and I understand why he loved It. Thanks for your uploading!

That, for me, is the most beautiful poetic song ever written.

This is pure poetry delivered in music that is simply beautiful. A wonderful choice of words, yielding a creative description that sets this piece apart from most others in the 'pop' music genre. Simply the best. A classic if ever there was such!

I'm an introvert and I feel that this song is for us, always misunderstood and unnoticed.

"Now i understand
What you tried to say to me
and how you suffered for your sanity
and how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now"

"Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)"

Starry, starry night
Paint your palette blue and gray
Look out on a summer's day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul

Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and the daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

Starry, starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in violet haze
Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue

Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand

Now I understand
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now

For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left in sight
On that starry, starry night

You took your life, as lovers often do
But I could've told you Vincent
This world was never meant for
One as beautiful as you

Starry, starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frame-less heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can't forget

Like the strangers that you've met
The ragged men in ragged clothes
The silver thorn of bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know
What you tried to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free

They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will

I’m literally crying one, because this reminds me of my granddad who died when I was 8. Second, because van gogh died thinking nobody cares about his art and due to the criticism of other people. ☹️

This is how music should be like, pure guitar music with a tormented voice and lyrics that make you get the goosebumps.
