For those wondering ichigo would have been murdered, his organs scooped out, his limbs removed and his body put into a tube where he was forced to hold all of the world's together. He couldn't die, he couldn't speak, but he could feel everything that happened every second. This is the reason ywach attacks the soul palace after thinking the gotei 13 are defeated. He wanted to free his father from eternal torment

If you think about it, Yhwach was a son who saw how they used his father as the artifact for the sole objectuve of stabilizing the worlds, so he decided to take revenge agaisnt soul society and create a new world without the need of a soul king, even if that killed millions

Also The post credit scene of last episode was mind blowing when ichigo's eyes became like the soul king's and saw his past

The soul soceity were a gang of dictators. They only changed and became far more Lighthearted and kind strictly because of ichigo's influence. He was strong enough to prove his Way was the right way in there eyes. You can even see yammato mellow out a LOT. Even mayuri got a bit better.

In the novels, it is also revealed that the soul reapers were committed the first sin of the soul society, where they butchered the original soul king and divided the world into 3 parts: soul society, hueco mundo and human world. This was the motivation of Yhwach to absorb the soul king and rejoin the world into one where there is no death.

So that's what Shunsui was talking about when he went and told Ichigos friends about the possibility of him not being able to leave soul Society. If he came back with a certain power then he would've become the candidate for soul king.

Honestly this makes me like his character more, Ichibei always had this aura to him that something was just slightly off. And let’s not forget the Gotei 13 started off as criminals Yamamoto rounded up with the sole intention of butchering the Quincy forces.

Another thing I find interesting is he wasn’t necessarily wrong, Yhwach would have beaten Ichigo had his powers not been stripped from him in by Uryu with the arrow. Yhwach was simply too unkillable for Ichigo to kill alone and had Uryu’s father not had the foresight to make the arrow Yhwach most likely would have won.

Writing like this makes me love bleach even more, it’s complicated but easy to dissect, motivations (for the most part) are made clear and characters become more interesting the deeper you delve into them

I'm not surprised especially after hearing about what the soul reapers did to the quinces, it reminds me of the main antagonists in Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Another thing worth mentioning is that Urahara reasearch on konpaku strengthening technology through the hogyoku is aimed to solve this lynchpin dependency problem by not putting the whole burden of sustaining the balance on a single individual (be it Reio or Ichigo)

Yea that was crazy when I found out that was actually going to happen because the didn’t believe ichigo could defeat yhwach

Actually No... Shunsui was disgusted by that idea of using Ichigo like that. You can see Shunsui worrying in the anime cour 2 episode 1 itself. If you read the novel, you will know the conversation between ichibei and Shunsui after TYBW. Ichibei literally made a sadistic joke that making ichigo into a speechless vegetable would be boring while Shunsui was fuming in anger and disgust, he literally stopped using honorifics while talking to ichibei, which is clearly stated. Shunsui knew it but was definitely not ok with it.

Yup, been saying that from the start- and they thought it was a joke that the soul society was the antagonist in the first arc. It was the biggest forshadowing in plane sight I’ve witnessed in all of anime.
