They look wonderful! Like some kind of porcelain vases just cooled down from the kiln!

That first onion weighed the same as my entire Sutton broad bean crop today. Good luck with the show. I have been reading your replies and was surprised to learn that you get stressed before a show. I thought you just took it all in your stride.
Best Wishes, Brendan.

Super, Dan! I don't think I'll ever grow for show in my plot, but always great to see how it's done. Mossy.

So it looks like rick van mans carrot challenge pull will be on the last day in august then...lol..
I've grew one in a pipe for the challenge, and it looks like it could be a whopper..(maybe not to your standards tho. ) .. :)
Thank you for sparking off my interest in massive veg again mate, and hopefully i can find a show that is North of the Tyne next year...:)

Nice onions Dan.. When i first got my allotment i was given some kelsae onions to grow, and i was never told they grew into football sized beasts..:0)
I wish they still had shows round my parts again. Unfortunately, the council has come to the conclusion that its not a money making thing for them.. :(

Good luck in the show mate..

My 3 and a half-pounders are gonna have to punch well above their weight, it'll be like Barry Mcguigan v George Foreman.
Team Emottyville will see you at the showbench, don't forget to polish the Humpage Cup.

Daft question but, are the tops usable or are they too stringy?

We're just starting up an enormous kitchen garden at our nursery and we're all starting growing veg' for the first time on a market garden scale. And all the fruit and veg' we grow will either be used on the on-site cafe, or be sold as surplus.
So we're eager to learn :-D
