Fun fact, the all-Japanese regiment in WWII is the most decorated group in history. Still returned to no land, almost no money, and no home. There’s a surprisingly great old movie about their heroism though.

My grandparents faced anti-Asian sentiment and anti-Asian laws when they married in the '60s due to being an interracial couple. Because my grandfather is Japanese, it was illegal for them to get married in certain states (including the state they were living in) so they had to travel around and find a state where it was permissible--and that's on top of the racism they faced socially and within their own families.

I also had a family member who was sent to one of the Japanese Internment Camps....

We can't just blame the obvious racists here either. The model minority myth, which is still unfortunately common among people across the spectrum for different reasons, has made violence and bigotry against Asian-Americans hard for some to see or accept.

We have a very long history of bad behavior toward minorities starting with Native Americans and we must continue to pushback against those who think this situation is acceptable. It should be considered child abuse when parents pass down these racist beliefs to their children and perpetuate the cycle.
