Hey Guys! Today I'll show you how to totally install Android 7 from scratch on your Kindle Fire HD 7. This could also be used as a 'How to Root" or a "How to install TWRP" video. But in order to keep it as simple as possible I'm making it into one simple video on how to turn your Kindle into a pure Android device.

Got a kindle today for $1 at a yard sale and thought it was broken because it would not hold a charge. Once i connected it, it started to charge and i thought i had seen it in a video somewhere. I finally found the video and it had a really old version of fire os so i backed it up and installed this mod. Now i can say i have a $1 android tablet! Works GREAT!

This will be my first attempt on a kindle(which is the first I have ever even physically touched) that my friend just got for $10. Being honest will be my first tablet I've ever attempted. I have rooted several phones in the past 2 years and I'm pretty confident in my abilities. I will say that I've been a little nervous about attempting this on someone else's device, but after your video I feel very confident in my chance for success. You're very concise, to the point, the files are all they're organized and you did a great job of switching the camera angles between the Windows computer and the Kindle itself. I think this will all add up to a walk in the park victory. Thank you bro. You are a handful of aces

Lengthy but if you follow step by step, it works. Only hiccup was the .android folder did not show up in my USER name in the USERS directory. But I just copied the adb-usb file into my USER name in the USERS directory and it worked. I now have an Android tablet. Well done, RC.

Just did this in the hopes of using a useless Kindle as a secondary SIM dash. I haven't messed with Cyanogen mod since like 2010(?) or so. This worked like a friggin' CHARM. Thanks, dude!!

this worked for me, upgrading a kindle that was previously on version 7.5.1.

kindle didn`t appear in the same place on the device manager. it was under `portable devices`, and attempting to upgrade the device didn`t work. as per another comment, i skipped this step, and all was fine.

also, in ES File Explorer, i needed up sign up for a free trial in order to be able to install the apk file.

thanks for the video!

Thanks - still working in 2023. I just didn't need to install the device manager stuff. Side note: if your kindle says it can't register when trying to sign into amazon, you put your email and password, then it emails you your OTP. Then you sign in with email and OTP - you don't put password in the 2nd time. Then download the file manager and super user checker. You can no longer use EFS manager to install third party apps, but luckily there's a file manager (yellow folder colour) that's available and lets you install apps.

I was so happy that I was finally able to follow a video to get a better OS onto my kindle... and everything in the video worked, but then of course something had to ruin it. Once it boots into CM14, the touchscreen is just completely buggy and unusable :(
