Excellent film. I know there are criticisms of Sterling Hayden's Swedish accent, but I thought that he acted magnificently! Thank you for the upload DK Classics V!

Saw this last in the 90s and the opening stuck with me for some reason.

He looks like Gary cooper and Randolph scott, what a mighty and brave man 👏

I love how this film shows how insane and unjust the old west must have felt to people from places where thuggery and corruption were *not* the norm.

Also - first western to feature a "harpoon-out" in the street.

Hayden's Swedish impersonation was pretty good actually. The gunfighter, on the other hand, looked and sounded out of place. He would have been more believable in a mafia/gangster film. Not a bad film but it should have had more energetic pacing.

Sterling strollin' down the street to impale a motherfucker...

If it weren't for the Swedish character on the Carol Burnett show to compare Sterling Hayden's Swedish accent to, Nobody would have given it a second thought.
But I must say that the music did not fit a western with a Swedish hero.

Actually, wery hard movie. Wery hard to put all safering poor people from rich and corrupted people. It is mirror of human civilization. Great tray of director of the movie to tell that to poor people in all world

Looks like an interesting movie, with some good camera work and Joseph Lewis directing. But to my horror, it's a "johnny" film. By 10:49 the "johnnys" stacked up to an unbearable level and alas, I had to bail.

Facing an opponent with 2 colts, with a whale harpoon? Just stupid.

Ditto for me. The repetitious "Johnnys" uttered by Cabot were getting on my nerves during his lobster feast. It makes me dislike his character even more, and maybe that's what the script called for. However, I'm sticking w/the movie 'til the end, in spite of this irritating a..hole!
