an assembly that filled the largest arena I had ever been in sang this and other hymns in a state-wide convocation in the 60s. I was surrounded by confident voices praising God in perfect harmony and it felt like being in heaven where our praises will never cease. I thank God for raising me in the tradition of my ancestors who were martyred for their confidence in Jesus Christ alone by grace alone through faith alone. Every day, believers are surrounded by future Christians. Lets confidently bring them into salvation, for our God desires that all should receive the free gift of eternal life already paid for by the life and sacrifice of his Only Son Jesus Christ once for all to bring us into reconciliation from god, freedom from damnation, and separation from our sins forever! So please empower us, Loving Father God. Let your spirit of repentance and faith accompany our witnessing all over the world. This is our mission as the redeemed. Its reward is immeasurable joy now and forever. Happy All Saints' Day!

Sublime. I used to sing this at junior school. Words, based on Hebrews, are absolutely true. Jesus is 'The Way, truth and the Life.'

It's old enough to have got across the message that saints don't need names or recognition by man.
GOD knows his workers.

there are many saints among us, some pedestrian, some as only you can perceive them, we feebly struggle... yet all are one in thee, sweet is the calm, Safety and Happiness, Truth and Beauty., Knowledge and Understanding, Peace and Quiet, peanut butter and jelly, Spiritual Understanding, Divine Intervention, Inexplicable Bliss

Not sure why there are such pedestrian pictures to such a glorious and triumphant hymn. Wonderful stirring song. Don’t lace in the profane, too! Holiness means being set apart.
