The PM always anounces his resignation after the elections here.

Even when the government coalitions continues, there is a period when they form a new coalition agreement and government.

So tbh De Croo resigning after the election is not that special

Because he lost the Belgian election, not the European one! It's customary for a PM to hand in his resignation after the elections even if they might continue in a new coalition. Nothing special at all, weird that journalists don't seem to know these things. Not every democracy works like the UK or the US and definitely not Belgium lol.

Please note in Belgium it was much more than european'elections.
