Tense moment family escapes through Cyclone Gabrielle floodwaters

A mother-of-five from Omahu, New Zealand, recorded the tense moment her vehicle was threatened by strong currents while fleeing the family home on Tuesday, February 14.

I know about the not crossing a flooded river part, I'm wondering what they were driving that was able to cross without getting pushed by the flood waters ?

Don't try this at home. This is trained NZ stunt family.... as you can tell from the calm in the midst of a raging torrent. They are on their way to buy a lotto ticket. Must have been a Toyota 4 wheel drive with deep water exhaust.

yeah you def shouldnt do this if you can avoid it because it is very dangerous but we dont really have the context of what they are driving away from, they could have recieved warning that their home was going to go completely under water etc.
