as a dm I can affirm that these questions and situations are accurate

"It tastes like dirt. With a hint of... dirt. And a dash of... dirt?"

My description: “it has a rich earthy texture and flavour with hints of worms and other tiny insects”

The dirt tasted earthy but also suprisingly sour and bitter. Roll for constitution and wisdom:
There was an acid dragon that resided here 100 years ago. Leaving large amounts of sulfur deposits in the soil. You realized this as the acid started disolving you from the inside out.

Roll for a new character.

I got so much joy from the captions correcting "rocks?! san-?" to Roxanne

Earthy tones with a bit of a metallic taste due to the high iron content this region is known for having in their soil

I’m crazy obsessed with researching what accurately exists in the biome I am putting my players in. I have done so much extensive work on my current location that I am starting to bother my players by giving wild trivia facts they will never ever ever use again. For context, my current campaign has my team in French Polynesia for a tropical homebrew adventure. They love the majority BUT I have found the best way to inflict damage upon them is to give bites of information they SHOULD REMEMBER, give a warning to write it down and then when the time comes - say YOU NEED THAT ONE THING. The number of times I have been begged for an insight check or a history roll is a joy

The dirt has a rich irony taste with a hint of gold.

I once had a player eat a wall. I don't even know where to begin with that

Welp, that went from funny to anxiety-inducing.

“It tastes earthy and there is a higher than average clay content in this soil”

Give him a pot and tell him" Show me how you eat it."
"No it's not rocky enough your pet hungers decides to turn on you, roll initiative."

At first I thought they were overdoing it on stupidity with the question what does dirt taste like?
Then I remembered one of my party members once asked our DM if darkvision would allow him to still make perception checks in the dark.

The correct answer is "role for perception"

And this is exactly the reason I tend to shortcut my players’ questions when they’re being weird with “why do you want to know that?”

"I'd like to know what the dirt tastes like"

"Oh, yeah, sure. But first, do me a constitution saving throw with disadvantage because you just ate medieval dirt, and plenty of animals do their deeds on it. Yes, I'm counting that as poison damage, no, I'm not going to overrule that".
