While Skar King and Shimo are threats together, Godzilla and Kong are the better team simply because they are willing to work together, while Shimo was forced to do Skar King's bidding. Once Skar King lost control over Shimo, he was no longer a threat. Skar King couldn't handle Kong or Godzilla on his own, let alone together. Not to mention how Shimo was clearly willing to turn on Skar King when she had the chance.
