I was in the 12th SF Group at the time it was a reserve unit. He is absolutely correct. We had FTX (Field Training) almost every weekend

I’m glad someone finally came out and supported my views in being active verse guard. I’ve done both and in my opinion if your gonna chase big goals that big goal might as well be your sole purpose instead of juggling an entirely separate career so you end up effectively never being able to go all in

Yes, when you’re active that’s your ENTIRE job, you live breath and sleep army, which isn’t easy by any means but that’s all you have to focus on, your ONE job. Whereas with the Guard you still need to maintain your level of fitness and capabilities to the Army SF standards, but now have to juggle everyday life of a civilian civilian careers, family, bills (no housing allowance), etc. Some times life gets in the way on the civilian side and then you gotta show up and perform / exceed the standard. It’s a tough balancing act sometimes

BS. Natty Guard SF is the path of dreams. Don’t sign an active contract kiddos. Go NG. You’ll thank your mental and physical state

Civil Affairs and PsyOps are similar in that manner. They all have civilian jobs that help their MOS and the mission we play down range. I’ve seen USACAPOC soldier do more from the reserves than active duty.

Even in basic/OSUT the guard whooped active’s ass. Most of us were ex athletes looking for school to get paid for or something cool to do in addition to our civilian life. The active dudes had below average fitness and were looking to get away from home.

A lot of guys choose to be more active than just once a month with Guard SF. Going to schools and various TDYs.

What this mouth piece is saying is true, the deployments and the requirements of active duty and NG are totally different. Once a soldier becomes an SF operator they understand the requirements of their responsibilities and strive to maintain those standards. But one SF A-team operator is not better than the other. We both had a responsibility to conduct our operation and come back home. Whether they were NG or active made no difference. A Green Beret is a professional soldier. That it!!

I’m a full timer in the MS Army Guard. We have 2/20 SFG here. Pound for pound i would put those guys against any AD operators any day! A lot of them are full timers but some are traditional guardsmen just like he’s talking about with regular civilian careers outside of the military.

The same can be said about all the jobs in the Reserves and National Guard. This guys claim isn't limited to just the SF community.

Gtfooh bro. It’s like saying conventional National Guard Soldiers are more stressed out than regular active duty Soldiers. Big difference.

By this same argument civilians habe the highest stress levels, bills, jobs, relationships, and we have no team or back up to call. Soooo thank me for my citizenship
