As a mathematician I have to remind people that dimension is a mathematical notion, not necessarily a physical reality. "Three dimensions" refers to the idea that to specify a point using a coordinate system, whether affine, euclidean, cylindrical, Spherical, or hyperbolic, requires three numbers. Coordinate systems are very important and useful but we shouldn't assume they have some kind of metaphysical reality
