I decided to redo this video with captions. Before Buddha entered into Nirvana, he told Ananda that Buddhists should treat precepts as their teacher (以戒為師). Therefore, I felt that the previous version without text is considered as incomplete. Here we go with an enclosed caption in the video!

They are the precepts against killing, stealing, engaging in sexual misconduct, lying, and taking intoxicants. People who have received the five precepts are called lay people.

Venerable Master Hsuan Hua (Traditional Chinese: 宣化上人; Hanyu Pinyin: Xuān Huà Shàng Rén; Vietnamese: Hòa Thượng Tuyên Hóa) was an important figure in Western Mahayana Buddhism.

Master Hsuan Hua founded the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association (DRBA), a well-known Buddhist organisation based in USA, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. He also built the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Ukiah, California, one of the first Buddhist monasteries in USA, and established the Buddhist Text Translation Society, which works on the translation of scriptures into English.

He is credited as the first Chinese Buddhist Zen master to introduce Orthodox Buddhism to the West, as well as he also ordained the first Buddhist monks in the United States.

Master Hsuan Hua was the Ninth Patriarch of the Wei-Yang Chan (Chinese Zen) School of Buddhism and received the Wei-Yang lineage's Dharma Seal from the Venerable Master Hsu Yun.
