Why does Maisy always sing such sad songs when she could perform happier things . That being said this song really speaks to me about myself, I don’t often sing to myself or in front of others but when I do this is one of my favorites to sing though I know I don’t sing it well . I’ve had major depressive disorder, chronic night terrors and constant anxiety since I was five years old and had to have open heart surgery at that age . I feel for whomever wrote the lyrics for this song . The earliest memories I have are of pain and sadness, but I know now it was all worth it . If I had not gone through what I did id be dead and my mother would have died of a broken heart . But still other than my love for my Mom my life is constant physical pain as well as the mental side of things, I’ve never been the same since I woke up that day in the hospital and found out the hard way that because of a genetic quirk morphine has a net zero effect on me in terms of treating pain . They had to detox me for 12 hours before they could administer the other medication that worked properly because of the risk of liver damage . So essentially I went without pain medication for 12 hours straight immediately after heart surgery and this songs tone is how I felt then at that time at that age
