This is just heartbreaking. He was not only one of the most talented performers of this or any generation, his volunteer and charity work was huge! He was always giving back. Rest in peace sir.

He never lost that wide eyed love for the musical theater, even years after he found true success. As genuine, gracious and nice as he was talented. It is truly a sad day for the theater world. RIP Gavin…

I saw the national tour of "Hello, Dolly!" with Ginger Rogers in 1967 at the age of 11. I already knew that I was gay, and I really wanted to believe that there could be a life for me out there somewhere, away from all the people who were trying to get me to believe terrible things about myself. So it's perhaps not surprising that my most vivid recollection of that performance is Cornelius singing to his best friend Barnaby about his faith in the existence of a town "Out there/ Full of shine and full of sparkle/ Close your eyes and see it glisten, Barnaby/ Listen, Barnaby . . . ." Gavin Creel, who gave the best rendition of "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" I have ever heard, would have understood that.

May perpetual light shine upon him.

He once said that when he died, I wished to perform hair one last time in heaven. I hope he got his wish ❤️

I saw Creel in this production and exactly this cast. He was a vocally rounded and limpid Cornelius. His timing was marvelous. I remember being thrilled they cast such a solid singer in this often flaky role. There were many moments when he frankly stopped the show. This charming compilation will live on for all of those that saw him live or elsewhere. I for one was glad to have experienced his skill A truly fulfilling performer who actually harkened back to a time when musical theatre was delivered clearly without faking it or blurring the character around oneself. He embodied it and the make believe connected in the house. People die. Show people never really do though, even when they have. RIP

HUGE talent. He’s there 110%. You can see it all up close here. Nothing held back.

What a shame! He was so young and so talented. Too many songs left unsung!

I went to see “Hello Dolly” because of Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce and fell in love with Gavin Creel’s magnificent voice and presence. His death is just heartbreaking.

This. This has broken me more than any celebrity death in so long. The outpouring of love from his community speaks love. There were very few like him - what a tragedy.

Life can be truly unfair sometimes. He was such an incredible talent, but also a genuine light. He had a pure, golden voice for Broadway and was so passionate about the craft. He will be sorely missed. RIP Gavin 😢❤

I honestly rarely feel this heartbroken by the death of a celebrity, but this man was so talented, so kind...it just isn't fair he needed to go through what he did and passing away so young. He had so many more years ahead of him...just heartbreaking

When I watch this I keep thinking "he is so beautiful", "he is so talented", "he is so sweet". My heart and brain doesn't want to think about him in the past tense 💔

“And we’ll recall when time runs out…”

Ouch. That lyric really hits hard now!

I met Gavin Creel when I was a freshman at Michigan and he was about to open in MILLIE. He came back for a master class and Q and A and he couldn't have been lovelier. As a performer he was so effortlessly likeable and the voice was peerless. What a stunning, profound loss. Thank you so much for posting this.

"It only takes a moment to be loved a whole life long." ❤️

Heartbreaking that his life was so short, he will be fiercely missed. The past week has shown that he was incredibly loved by so many. Rest easy, Gavin.

I just can't believe he's gone. Look how effortless, yet energetic. "Isn't the world full of wonderful things?"
Bravo, Gavin. Bravo.

He lit up the whole theatre every moment he was onstage. There will never be so wonderful and smooth a voice as his.

I’m sure he’s put on his Sunday clothes up there and is leading the parade high in the sky. RIP
