After what was an amazing Mexican Grand Prix, it was time to head off to the next race on the F1 2021 schedule, the Brazilian F1 race. Although not free of drama of course, because this week my flight was cancelled. Did I make it to Brazil ahead of the Interlagos F1 race? Stick around to witness all the Brazilian Grand Prix travel drama.

I'm going to miss your travel videos after the season ends!

I guess this is also why most drivers fly private. On instagram someone mentioned that Hamilton also used a helicopter for the airport, so I guess they have separate entering strategies and entrances.

I spent 20 years photographing Indy Car racing. The last 9+ years my client was Pennzoil. Three years coving Penske Racing and Rick Mears and then 6 covering Jim Hall Racing and (in order) John Andretti, Teo Fabi and Gil de Ferran. I was based in Chicago and much of the season was in the Midwest. Most of the time I drove to the venue, stayed in a motel; did the three days and drove home. The only distant travel (fly to); was Pocono, Phoenix, and Laguna Seca. A couple of years there was a Miami race and we all stayed at a hotel that had monorail service to the park. They warned us in Miami not to get off the monorail until you were in the park. I remember looking down on businesses that had razor wire on the roof of the building! Getting to the event shouldn't be an adventure. However, in your case it is.

This was the era of film (only the press photographers had the "new digital cameras"). When I drove home, I had the first 2 days film written up and would write up the last (Sunday) rolls at a rest stop or in the lab parking lot. Put the packages through the slot and head home. By Monday pm I would have the first rolls and no later than Tuesday noon the balance. My client (a public relations company) was based in Redondo Beach, California so FedEx overnight had the coverage by Wednesday. The times have changed and i would imagine the pressure to internet images immediately is on you all the time. Probably between sessions at the track!

I am retired now and living in Santa Fe, New Mexico. At my age (76) I have no desire to carry 20 to 30 lbs. of cameras around a race track. My wife and I are still huge race fans and we will both get up in the middle of the night to see a F1 race from some distant shore.

Keep up the good work.

I've come to realize that I'm starting to enjoy the endless tales of travel woes you experience. I don't like the idea of taking joy in other people's suffering, so I'm glad when you always make it out alive and usually in one piece! You're a stronger man than most to keep up this never ending F1 schedule without going home in-between races!

Your attitude towards the negative things that happened to you while traveling is very commendable. I will keep that in mind and use it as an inspiration/example when I'm able to travel again after the pandemic has died down.

Kym when he enters Mexico "I'm not a fan of tacos". Kym when he leaves Mexico "For my last meal I'm having Tacos". I'm glad Mexico changed your opinion

The quality of your videos are just exceptional! Just a quick comment about Brazil's safety, I was born there but moved to the UK when I was pretty young so never had a chance to properly live there, but the times I went there with my mom she always used to say, don't show off too much and you will be just fine. Truth is she got robbed twice in London, where she has lived for 18 years and never got touched back in Brazil, a place where she lived for over 35 years! Obviously these big events will tell these safety warnings but I would definitely recommend a visit whenever you can, amazing country, one that I wish I could have lived for a bit more time.

Another excellent video Kym. The travelling, the connecting flights, the check ins and the checkt outs.... it's probably the main reason I watch your videos now. I still love the F1 racing content that you make too, but these "behind the scenes" travelogues are the shizznit.

Hi Kym, Love the content mate. Found you on TikTok a few months ago. As a keen F1 watcher and travel nut i love the insight into the behind the scenes of the F1 traveling Circus. Looking forward to watching them all next year. Stay safe and enjoy your time at home in Australia with the family.

Lad! I’ve fled Brazil in 2002 because I had been mugged 23 times while I lived there . I’ve been living in Austin Texas since 2002 and I so feel safe . I’ve never been mugged here . I don’t miss Brazil at all .I love going to COTA during the F1 here which is half an hour from my home . Stay safe .

As a Brazilian its quite hard to read all these negative comments about our country, but what can we say? It's true. Although you can be robbed in other countries, we cant ignore the fact that Brazil its always been a Dangerous place, not as dangerous as the rest of the world suggests, but yeah we have some problems. I think we're just used to live here and as natives we know how to avoid such situations. But i really hope that Kym have a wonderful stay in Brazil! Love your videos.

I watched one of your videos a couple months back about what the drivers drove to the race and loved it. I really enjoy watching your videos and your photography is amazing! I have a brother from another mother in Bundaberg, you remind me a lot of him. Anyways, love your stuff, Kym, always look forward to your next video, take care and be safe out there!

Sad to see the amount of instructions that f1 gives about security in Brazil like it’s the only country you can get robbed. It can happen but so as in other places. I hope you enjoy your time here and have a real taste of what Brazil is like. Love your videos ❤️

Your airport melee reminds me of flying from Buenos Aires to Dallas. Most of the airport was on strike, and I was on one of the only international flights that day out of Argentina
