The Royal Air Force Typhoon in the hands of flight lieutenant ‘turbo’ Turnbull put on a mesmerising display at this year’s Royal international Air Tattoo. It was like trying to follow a bumble bee with the video camera!

The first time I saw the Typhoon was at an airshow along the coastlines in Margate in 2004. It came tearing in right after the Harrier jump jet, probably thinking, "Watch this!" And then—BOOM—it broke the sound barrier. Car alarms went off and small children cried.

My father helped test & develop the ej200 engines at ngte pyestock Farnborough & the rb199. Sadly the ngte is now a housing estate. Rip dad x
