Senator Warren calls for increased funding for the Social Security Administration

The government can’t be a good steward of Social Security and Medicare if it does not have the money to run Social Security Offices. Let’s increase funding for SSA so that it has the resources it needs to ensure that our seniors get their hard-earned benefits.

I still don't understand why SS was used to fund social network programs. When will the congress move forward to find funding for the SSI and Disability and any other programs that suck the money out of the fund. SocSec was never devised to support any welfare programs other than those that help seniors who put into the system. I'm confused. So I worked all my life, paid taxes, paid into social security and now I have to have a lesser check simply because the numbers have been manipulated to include other social programs - social security is not a social program - why are seniors paying for those who never worked, why isn't the federal government providing such coverage rather than filling their pockets with taxpayer's money. I'm pissed.

The current age of today's seniors means that they are less likely to use the many money saving measures taken recently by the SSA. They were raised without personal computers and frequently are not comfortable using them. Mobility loss and extreme poverty prevents many seniors from having access to computers, tablets and internet sources. Some sections of SS administration, like determination of disability, seem to favor claims filed by lawyers rather than claimants. Many of these people are just not quite old enough to qualify for benefits yet. They have worked throughout their lives, but have never been told that SSA law guarantees lawyer's their fee. The claimants poverty/ignorance determines their action. I believe that we must fund SSA and VA. I also believe that we must work to administer them both in ways that are neutral to race, gender and disability.

Increased income means benefit cuts for other social programs.

Increase the pay to the senior citizens. Most will die before they get any amount of what they paid into.

What about trying to make legislation easier so people with a severe disability can get a disability vehicle? This is run by a private organisation and insurance company. The person who has a severe disability of mobility or severe mental illness is entitled to go on the scheme, part of the benefit is taken out what is used for Motability costs is used to pay off a lease vehicle for three years or hire purchase for 5. although insurance road tax tolls are free just money on a monthly basis out of their benefit goes towards there lease vehicle? This is great for the car industry as well. Somebody needs to start up a scheme over there. As I say the car industry like Ford do it already in other countries. Usually a vehicle that is at a certain price point, say for instance a maximum $40, 000 and a contribution can be put on a higher price vehicles lower price vehicles will be free without any upfront payment? And if any adoptions that are needed will be funded by the benefits system for the vehicle. We see poor people who are ill and have mobility problems driving old bangers and getting them stolen as well seems to happen quite often. Come on somebody start up a scheme! And Congress help them out!
