In real life as shown in the crown, Diana was way too human and emotional for that family. Which is the reason why the Royals never warmed up to her while the public loved her.

Watching this makes me realise that had Diana still been alive, this is the sort of love and support she would have given Kate Middleton...it almost breaks my heart Kate has missed out on this sort of potential love she would have gotten from Diana.

What makes this even sadder is that Diana had terrible relationships with her own mother, and then later her stepmother, and never got the care & affection she desperately wanted from a maternal figure. This is a young woman crying out for a mother's love.

That line from her speech all makes sense now. They didn't make a great husband and wife, but I fount that the Prince and Princess of Wales made a concious effort to hug, carry, kiss and hold the hands of their children and assured them that they can also hug them even in public and in the middle of an event.

Anne said "I think I'm going to be sick" when she heard and I just like: What, you're seriously telling me a sincere hug disgusts you, she obviously never got any love or care from her own mother so why was I even surprised.

I don't think Diana ever really recovered from the trauma of her mother leaving when she was just a child. She didn't need fame or photographers hounding her. She needed love. The way in which she held on to the Queen and called her mama is heart-wrenching 💔

As the queen mother said "being king killed your father" being queen killed her, she went from loving to cold hearted instantly.

It is sad to watch this, someone wanting a small hug but is not reciprocated. Diana indeed loves her husband because she wouldn’t have hug the mother of the one you love like she did if she didn’t have feelings for her own husband.

This episode showed Anne was just like the rest of her family. She was the first to resent Diana and went hissing to her mother about it, so I don’t know why she’s so adored from the series.

I think Elizabeth (the private person) has merged so strongly with Elizabeth (the queen/ crown) that she canno function any longer. The crown cannot show emotions or any preferences but Elizabeth in her private life can. And that she simply cannot show emotions or love or very concerning. (I am talking about the shows portrayal)
