The First Serbian Uprising is where my second favorite historical figure, (the first being Husein Gradaščević), Stevan Sinđelić, made his name with an incredible sacrifice. After being surrounded by the Ottoman army, he fired his pistol into the nearby gunpowder kegs, which killed him, what remained of his forces, and of course, the Ottoman army. Read his wiki page if you can. Short but very interesting!

Nice to see someone cover this topic. Although I was literally shocked when I saw how many videos you upload yet how little views you have...I was genuinely in shock because I watched your videos quite often...Respect for the grind!

in turkısh scools they tell us: serbians revolted in 1805 and it lasted for 70 years until serbs become independent but the start of the revolt is never fully told. this video covers the uprisings early stages very well

That was a great video Jabzy and when you finish with the second (and partial successful Serbian uprising) could you consider doing next the Greek war of independence in 1789

Just to add: 90% of Otomans Pasha/Vezirs/Janissaries etc, were made of local people, converted to Islam, that was even more harder Kucuk Alija, Osman Pazvanoglu also, Mustafa Pasha.
Ottomans made a empire where they Ottomans from Turkey were minority and Christians and convertits were majority.

Great Jabzy! Long time ago I suggest you to made this video about Chegar Hill battle after which Ottomans have made this Skull tower. Battle itself have amazing story to cover and for sure as someone already mention Stevan Sinđelić who blow up the whole hill on the end.

I am happy to see people from other countries covering topics such as the First Serbian uprising. Good on you! Also, Selim the III was killed in 1808 not 1801

As for Chegar battle where Stevan Sindjelic blow everything up, himself, his soldiers and Ottomans army, there was i remember a story from some old guy how his ancestors told him which were down the hill how the saw big explosion and parts of body falling all the way - so that legendary moment in Serbian history captured outside of books, in family collective memory.

Serbian leader of the uprising, Karadjordje or the "Black George" in English, as the Turks themselves nicknamed him, was so committed to the fight against the Turks, and so angry that he killed his own father and brother because of disagreements and their cowardice. Karadjordje was later treacherously killed and beheaded by his own Godfather, Vujica Vulicevic, all in favor of the leader of the Second Serbian Uprising, Milos Obrenovic.

Well, it's a bit misleading to call this "First Serbian Uprising". It is fault of Serbian education system as we in schools were taught that too. This wasn't the first uprising of Serbs against the Turks, as there were many more. The contemporaries of this event called it "Karađorđev Rat" - Karađorđe's War and the Second one they called "Miloševa Buna" - Miloš's Revolt

I've been following your channel for a while and your content is generally great, you have your own unique style that sets you apart from others. I can't believe I just came across this video. There is a rumor that Napoleon mentioned Karadjordj after the battle of Aspen near Vienna when they asked him who he thought was the greatest military leader and he replied: "It is easy for me to be great with our experienced army and huge resources, but far to the south, to In the Balkans, there is a military leader, who emerged from a simple peasant people, who gathered his shepherds around him, managed without arms and only with cherry cannons, to shake the foundations of the almighty Ottoman Empire and thus liberate his enslaved people. the greatest military leader, "Napoleon replied. The video is great but I think you should have given some details a little more time and importance.
All the best and keep up the good work !

I wish you consulted some native speakers concerning the names of places and characters involved in this historic period (Icko is actually Ichko, Kuchuk Alija is Kuchuk Aleeya, Georgi Petrovic is George Pethrowhich, Becir Pasha is Bacheer Pasha, Ivankovac is Ivancovatz, Misar is Meeshar and so on) but apart from that I find the video good.

Love how YouTube has figured out my race, my interests, and all of that stuff so acutely that I am recommended a history video about Serbia’s history within hours of its release. Great video.
