Mirrorless cameras are no longer simply a preference. In short, the camera and the lenses can be made far more cheaply for the same quality. They are also lighter for the same features / specs. I had a Ricoh Singlex mirror film SLR in the 1970s. Later on I bought a Fuji fixed lens mirrorless 6MP DSLR. Loved it. Decided to upgrade to a DSLR with mirror. Of course I gained in MP and lens quality, etc. But I lost the electronic viewfinder and was lugging around a bit of weight for the same zoom. I felt I went forward a few steps and then back one. Now I have mirrorless again. Far better.

I once saw a museum exhibit of cameras through the years and realised I had owned and used most of them.

This confuses a lot of the dates in the time line, such as when it was no longer necessary to return the camera to get the film developed.
