A little bit of history: Dad wrote the line, "Found myself a paper, friend, read yesterdays news, folded up page 21 and stuck it in my shoe." The Tennessean newspaper back then the obituaries were in the "B" section usually about pages 20-23. The old southern joke is, I feel so bad I had to check the obituaries to see if I was dead. "B" for Blake would be about page 21. Checked, nope, not dead, so I folded it up and stuck it in my wore out brogans of a struggling Nashville guitar player. We lived on Richland Ave. and Church Street is how Dad would come home from the Pickin' Parlor and GTR's on 2nd Ave.

I wish there was a “love” button to click. I feel like I subconsciously have been waiting to hear Dan cover a tony rice song for a while, and if I had any to pick from this was it.. so, thank you for entertaining my subconscious desire.

Beautiful performance, which follows Tony Rice's arrangement of Church Street Blues closely. But, credit where it's due, the tune was written by Norman Blake, whose arrangement is very different from Tony's but no less wonderful for that.

Amazing performance by two absolute masters. Whoever recorded and mixed / produced this deserves a big thumbs up too. Gaven’s solo @ 1:10 is one of the tastiest things i ever heard.

Wow, this is very well done, and the audio is perfect. That seasoned singing voice is the one I would pick to honour Blake and Rice, and Gaven Largent is a new misician to me, great player!
