I also re read pride and prejudice this month via audiobook, it’s one of my all time favourites! I’m new to audiobooks but I totally agree that they make classics easier to digest, will definitely be doing that more in the future!

15 books, that is a lot! Congrats! I'm happy if I can finish one book in a month haha! I love how you give us insights of the books that you have read last month!

I feel the exact same towards short stories.. that’s why I usually don’t enjoy short story collections. I was on the fence about Milkman but after your review I have no doubt it is not something for me at all!

Absolutely agree about My Dark Vanessa! It was so well written and earth shattering!

I've listened to Milkman on audio and actually quite enjoyed it XD I feel like because I was listening so the format doesnt bother me that much, that's maybe why I could enjoy it! I wanted to read Middlemarch for so long but the length intimidates me haha, glad you enjoyed it! and listening and reading classic at the same time is such a good idea, I need to try that too :D Also a big fan of button poetry <3 happy reading!

Glad you felt the same about Milkman, I bought it at Hay on Wye, partly because it seemed to have been shortlisted a few times and it just wasn't for me

I love listening to an audiobook while reading as well, and after watching one of your videos back in November, I joined my library and have been borrowing some audiobooks from there. Thanks very much for the tip! 🤗 I'm currently reading/listening to Pride and Prejudice and my next classic is going to be Great expectations ❤️

I had the same experience with 'Solutions and other problems'. I was quite disappointed because I loved her first book.

Hey! New sub here 👋😊 found you on Instagram and actually bought The Ten Thousand Doors of January when I first saw you mention it as I too thought it was a book that I would love! I can definitely agree with everything you said which is such a shame because I feel like it had so much promise but just ended on such a meh 😕 I can imagine it being made into a film and having some beautiful moments on screen especially her parents world and that culture. I also think the pacing was so off plus the weird mention of different creatures (cold skin person, won’t say anymore for risk of spoilers!) without any back history from them just left me with so many questions. I think from very early on I knew who the ‘baddy’ was going to be so again was not shocked by the ending. Just wanted to say can’t wait to see more of your videos and very happy I discovered you! 🥰💜

Hi Amy, thank you for your review of the books you read. I am a long time subscriber of yours (around since before you disappeared for a while) - I just wanted to say I completely agree with your strategy of reading along with classics while simultaneously listening to the audiobook to comprehend the story better! I have just discovered this and you are exactly right - listening to someone else read older language the way it is supposed to be read helps with the flow and it makes for a more enjoyable reading experience - I get so much more out of it! I just wish that I didn’t have to buy the book and also purchase the audiobook- gets pretty expensive...

I need to read Song Below Water. I think there is another book after it, I think it's a companion novel rather than a direct sequel but i'm not 100%

Have you read Sarah Kay's poetry collection? She's also been on button poetry and I ADORE her work
