Is the Surface slim Pen 2 better? In this video I unbox the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio, The Surface Pro 8 and the Surface Go 3. I also set up the Surface Studio to test out the pen and see if Microsoft really improved it.

Hey brad, just a heads up. The display has "adaptive color" enabled, basically the same thing as Apple's true tone. So if you're wondering why the display looks all yellowish, this is why.

In the presentation, Microsoft made a big deal about the pen having haptic feedback, to simulate the actual feel of pen/pencil/crayon on paper. How good is this in practice? I'm looking forward to your thoughts on this as an artist.

can you do the diagonal line test with a ruler and slow please?- so we can rule out (heh) hand wobbling and see if there's still jitter/wobble in the pen/pentech? i have a sp4 and knowing if the sp8 is perfect or as good as wacom for slow drawing would be an amazing reason to upgrade to sp8.

Im really interested in the surface laptop experience for artist, especially since i have a surface book 3 and that has worked for me well so far. I enjoy the innovative look and idea and to me, Microsoft has done well.

But really, the real question is, is the pen going to be better?

I've been waiting for this. The pen is the main thing that makes or breaks my decision to buy the Surface Pro 8 or an IPad as I want to draw and take notes. Look forward to your drawing review.

Finally, someone could now test the pen performance of the new pen, this will make me decide weather to get the ipad pro + a laptop or just buy a single device.

Please please please test the new pen on older devices and compare it to the old pen on older devices, I'd really like to see how much of the wobble are from the pen, and how much from the screen. Also, does the haptic feedback work in older surfaces as well?

Cheers :)

Upon seeing the jitter line test I know this is what I want to see when testing Surface!

funnily enough, the improvements in these revealed surface devices makes me quite excited for the Microsoft Surface Studio 3 - the pen technology doesn't have to be perfect, but if it's as good as those diagonal lines indicate...

I think it's time to start saving up.

Goodness Brad, that cliffhanger!
The pen is of major interest to me, of course, but I was also wondering about battery life and portability. I like the idea of the Surface Studio and the specs seem good as well but it looks a bit chunky and wonder if this is something I can move between rooms. Can I pack it for a trip outside the home and will it weigh me down? I don't mind toting a battery if needed (can it connect to portable batteries?) but that is added weight.

I currently own a Surface Book 2, 15", is this a good upgrade from the Surface Book line? The flexibilty of the SB line is what I love about the device but it is getting older. Being that I can't remove the screen on the SS, how are the angles and it's overall usage? Do you think this is solely for artists/ creative professionals or would this also work for productivity? Gaming? (I would love to use this for VR, but no worries I'll do my own research on that)
I look forward to your review. Thank you for everything!

I like the design, it reminds me of a ipad in a magic keyboard, very interested in this one

Please, review the Surface Go 3 as well once you are done with the Studio and the Pro 8. I really want to know what you think of it as a casual art device and in general. I think it may become a pretty interesting little device if it performs well.

Edit: No one reviewed it yet.

hello Brad, there's compatibility with almost all surface devices including surface pro 3 to 7. Zero force inking is only available with surface book, this laptop studio and pro 8, x and go 2

They need to make a 2nd angle for the ezel that can come down to the edge, under the touchpad, then we could actually draw at a nice angle. Doing this and changing the CPU to AMD and I would be sold.
