Too many pastors are afraid to engage their congregation on issues because they're afraid of the IRS. Here's why they shouldn't be afraid.

They’re showing the power they have. They’re no different than the government. I wouldn’t trust either

What those who share those opinions fail to understand, it’s a two way street.

The separation of church an state means both are separate entities that have no say on each other. The church isn’t the state and the state isn’t the church. If for the moment they were to successfully revoke the exemption status, the church would no longer be separate from the state and as a organization be well within its right as a tax payer to push for changes it wants in legislation, changes that would come regardless of how much they would hate it ; they would be the cause of the church becoming the state.

Freedom of religion must start with freedom from religion. keep church and state separate or become a church state. How is that working for the middle east? Especially for women.

freedom is fine, but tax all equally -- if my tiny store must pay taxes while billion dollar churches live on lobster it is a crime against me

It's not enough to turn them into the IRS. Turn them into the FBI. That's how Greg Locke lost his tax exempt status

Church is a business and all businesses should be taxed. And don’t say it isn’t because a lot of people are making a lot of money, and business is good when the suckers line up. And a lot of people live on land the church owns, tax free! If we taxed churches and legalized marijuana we could pay off the deficit tomorrow. When you’re at church the offering plate is always pushed in your face. But if you’re on your deathbed and need financial help all you’ll get is a couple “prayers” in return.

Christ was very specific about living apart from the world. Christian groups or any religious groups who are using the teachings of Christ as a smoke screen to meddle into secular politics is wrong.

I actually feel like churches should not be tax exempt. I know this is unpopular. However this is my opinion. My username is for ANON. Not actually trolling...

Until the moment The State arbitrarily determines to apply The Law, given a favorable political climate.

Without any 501-3c status an organization should be lawfully considered to be not included instead of exempt.
