I dont understand why people think Doctor Fate is a rip off of Doctor Strange, do some research before writing something, Doctor Fate has been around since 1940 and Doctor Strange was 1963. So if anything Dr.Strange is a rip off of Dr.Fate.

Doctor Fate debuted May 1940. Doctor Strange debuted July 1963. Also, the mask is basically the essence of Dr Fate. The person wearing the masks becomes Dr Fate. It's not just an accessory.

I think Dr Fate is the mask or that is where his essence lies and bestowed upon whoever wears the mask so it is kind of a necessity to have that mask on

I think you might want to brush up on your research and read Dr. Fate Grace. He is more of an entity than a person. The mask is Dr. Fate AKA Nabou and any person that puts the mask on becomes "him". This possession is somewhat similar to Enchantress and June Moon. The character is very interesting and if you like Justice League Dark then I think you would like Dr. Fate!
