I'll explain why Jeff's drumming is unique especially his drum rolls, and fillings, they have no beginning, they appear out of nowhere, it is absolutely amazing how he does them, you listen to many of their songs, he always pulls drum rolls out of the aether.

This was a great album, truely the one they won the six grammies for.. Nothing wrong with Africa but this one is deep with greatness, and lightyears ahead of the rest of their peers. Who didnt sing on this album? Lol Bobby Campbell at top of his game, hell all of them were.

I searched the web for all the songs Jeff Porcaro received credit for being the drummer during his all-too-brief career before dying at age 38.

He played on an astounding 2, 127 songs on MANY dozens of other artists' albums! You'll find similar stats by the other members of Toto, who have all worked as some of the most sought after and prolific studio musicians in the industry.

The first 3 Albums were amazing with such a fresh style.. Girl goodbye-goodbye Eleanor-white sister Rocked out..then songs like Mama-takin' it back-a million miles away with such heartbreak in the vocals you feel the angst.. I'll play those 3 Albums start to finish all day long!!

My favorite cut from this album... liking the jazz approach to their talents. Used this on my opening to my radio show... Gotta love "White Sister" on this LP to make this a breakthrough album for Toto.

What other band goes from All Us Boys--high energy rocker to this? None! Oh...and they really played their instruments without all the technology dope today! This is one of the best shuffle grooves ever, the other was These Chains off The Seventh One. Hydra was magic! Entire album is a bunch of talented musicians having a blast together hitting the record button.

Toto’s members are all excellent studio musicians that have played on hundreds of records of other artists in Los Angeles recording studios for much of the 1970’s. They refined their chops till they decided to become their own serious band. They performed out in Honolulu many times on of all places the all you can drink ‘Booze Cruise’ catamaran where the would perform live while everyone would get drunk on unlimited drinks. Shortly after a few runs on the booze cruise the released their first self titled LP TOTO and played their very first real concert in Honolulu at the Neil Blaisdell Arena in 1977 kicking off their first national tour. Real Info.

They were just a bunch of beasts lol
I have been listening to it forever, I love Toto, sadly we lost Jeff and Mike which is not Toto any more although we still got David, Bobby and Steve, Philips is excellent but NOT in the same league as Jeff.
I don't know what happened to Steve Porcaro through. Any ideas guys?

You can't beat the '70's, the '70's was the reason the '80's existed in the first place, so yea, my thesis is you can't beat the '70's.
