They were both born and raised in England as were several players in the Ireland team.

They’re not from Ireland, Rice is from Kingston and Grealish is from Birmingham they just have Irish grandparents

They didn't switch they were always English. It just shows how ludicrous the rules are.

Happens all the time on both sides, players are loyal to the half crown not the crown we used to say 😂

Irish man here! No one to blame but the FAI. If they had given the players full international senior caps, they'd be playing for us now. I can't fault the two lads.

Born in uk ok but once they play any full international that shud be it, we, ireland, have exploited the granny rule for ages, on this occasion its gone Englands way so good luck to the lads. Tell jack his auntie mary in mayo wants him to bring over a few Lancashire toffees for his cousins next time he is over, lol

Both born and raised in England, they played at youth, and in Rice's case, senior level.

It's a similar situation to players with African ancestry playing for the country they were born in rather than the country their ancestors are from, except they're white so people outside Ireland and England don't care as much

Gd i much prefer the attitude of Americans who claim "Irish" decendency... the ones who stayed behind and remained in ireland have all this victim mentality stuff going on.
