Our greatest pleasure is to find the correct speed and best possible sound of these recordings. We want results as close as can be to the music they actually played - with as little as possible damage by the beautiful and charming - but sometimes bad old recording technic.
in these early days of recording technology even "78rpm" sadly was no standard at all - as everyone thinks of course. They simply did not keep this speed or any other standard while recording! No chance for correct playback with nearly all of the 1920's records. Later in the 30s and 40s they got more precise - well, sometimes...
Today we can asume with a reason that the playback results on acoustic grammophones were simply THAT bad, that the technicians and also the musicians probably didn't care much about "correctness" at all. We all know that Argentina is famous for technical precision today. Also time on the discs was limited - so some good reasons to speed up. Research leeds us to the knowing of the correct keys and instrument tuning circumstances of the music PLAYING in these days, so happily we can finally do, what nearly NO ONE ELSE HAS EVER DONE BEFORE: reconstruct how they played it. We call it: Precious Remastering

All tracks on this album are recorded in a period when Fresedo's musicians had tuned their instruments to A' = 440hz.

1936 must have been a year of touring for the Fresedo Orquesta as they had only 3 recording sessions in that year at all. Altogether they recorded 8 tracks which were apart from now famous tangos, 2 rancheras, a pasodoble and a beautiful vals. Also this choice of very colourful musical styles shows that it was an actual "performing orquesta". The live sets at these times were fairly longer periods of tango and then longer periods of other rhythms. Still we can hear Charles Wimer playing guitar which is very clearly to hear in "Adios para siempre". So the influence of jazzy elements is present, and also spanish influences very much. Together with marvellous concert harp-playing of Nélida Gianneo, the vibraphone and also drum-set sparkles Fresedo was about to create a real unique style. This success was also thanks to the marvellous voice of Roberto Ray. -Mark John 22/10/2020

A small album, but still full of music. It was quite a surprise to listen to Charles Wimer's guitar so confidently in these small batch of recordings. And since the addition of harp, drum-set and vibraphone, Fresedo got quite the interesting timbre. It was also since circa 1935 that the Maestro took the director's role. His bandoneón solos will be missed... but the best is yet to come!. Pay close attention to the last track. There you'll listen to the beauty these new instruments brought to the Fresedo sound. -Camilo Gatica 22/10/2020
