So I can’t spot fakes until after they have my money or after I’ve sprayed urine and aluminum on myself. Sweet, great video

Buying fragrance from Macy's is the best defense against acquiring fake versions. Every time my husband bought cologne from Perfumania, the smell of it was obviously old or fake! He finally stopped buying from Perfumania.

You missed out on one point..that is if you buy some of the newer batches frags...its highly likely reformulated..thats why people hunt down older batches..which are pre reformulation version.fake and older formulations are not in the same category.but ya dont buy frags from shady shops or websites...esp where prices are too good to be true

Department stores do not keep fragrances on shelves for longer than a year (plus they're baking under those hot lights), so they're then sold to other retailers. That does not mean a bottle bought on the "gray market" is four years old. The websites that sell them get so much rotation that the average bottle is only a year or two old. And it usually takes three years for a bottle to go bad. That doesn't mean it will if you keep it out of the light and heat. It just depends on the perfume.

You just cannot spot the difference between real and well done fake unless you are using the same fragrance for years or you are in the fragrance business.

I bought 2 fan de fendi perfume. One has a suble depth of the notes in it. The other one doesnt have that but smells similiar. I dont know if you can tell unless you have both bottles in front of you.

I don't think I'll be buying perfume from Ebay anymore after I was sent a fake Versace Bright Crystal perfume. There are some obvious ways to spot a fake one if you look close. The one that I got had a noticeably alcoholic smell, also the scent was barely there, just slightly resembling the original, but lacked depth and other notes were missing when it settled down on my skin. Also it aired out quickly. Another disappointment was the lettering on the glass bottle. I noticed some weird fuzziness inside each letter, and that bothered me, so I wanted to rub it off with my t-shirt (btw, it's a good test), and when I did, one of the letters started shifting down into a crooked position, and that's when I got very suspicious. I was like "why would a high-end company like Versace glue on the letters on their perfume bottles? That's very cheap. If I could take them off, then anyone could. That would ruin their reputation for doing a poor job on their logo." So I started googling fake vs. real Versace Bright Crystal, and found some tips on how to spot a fake. One of the tips was to look at the bottle's cap, which I immediate did. The design on mine was sloppy and unprofessional and was missing details. Also, the lady's face on the cap looked rather sad/angry vs. the one on the original cap. So, that's how I knew. I immediately contacted the seller, complaining about sending me a fake perfume and for a refund, and they refunded me the money without asking for their product to be shipped back to them. Duh, they would know. I suggest, make your research about the seller from which you plan to purchase and read customer feedback. Also, if they sell an $80 product for $20-$30, it's too good to be true and you better stay away!

Hey, i came across perfumes recently @ Costco and i have been a bit apprehensive. I know Costco can't possibly sell fakes in name of original but when i posted at a group about the reasons for low price, an employee from a marketing company advised these are perfumes which have been returned or on shelf for a long time 😗. So i am confused now.
