MEXICAN ICED COFFEE | CAFE DE LA OLLA

Hello my beautiful fam! Welcome back to my kitchen today I’m going to share with you how To make a super easy and delicious café helado de la olla , mexican spiced iced coffee, this is seriously my ultimate favorite iced coffee, I normally let it steep overnight so the next Morning I’m able to enjoy a nice cup of iced coffee all I do is add milk and if I have whipped cream I top it with some and a little cinnamon, but tbh it don’t need any of that just the coffee and milk it’s the best combination ever! This coffee is inspired by Mexican cafe de olla, traditionally brewed in a large clay pot, I hope you give this coffee a try if you want it hot you can simply brew your coffee with all the spices! Ingredients: makes about 8 cups
8 cups of water
2-3 cups of ground coffee I use Folgers
1 medium piloncillo or you can use brown sugar
4 anisé stars
8 cloves
1/4 cup ground cinnamon
1 cinnamon stick
Milk
1 serving of love 💕

I can’t wait to try this recipe! Fun fact: iced coffee is double strength brewed as a hot coffee and then is poured over ice, to cool it off and dilute it. Where cold brew (what you made) is slow steeped in cold water and therefore is less acidic - which works perfectly here with all of the other ingredients. Genius! If you had let it steep 18-20 hrs, you would’ve ended up with a double strength coffee concentrate that would last about a week in the fridge. Every time you wanted some, you could just dilute a serving with water (2:1, Coffee:H2O) and add milk and sweetener to taste. Idk how the spices would do steeping for that long, but I think I’m going to try it out. Thanks for the inspiration, love your recipes as always 💞

I just boil cinnamon sticks and I have a nespresso so I use the melozio pod and add the cinnamon with my almond creamer it is delicious! Gives me a Christmas vibe

Awesome. Clove, cinnamon and star anise. Wonderful blend and then the brown sugar cone. Oh my. AND whipped cream! It’s like masala chai but with coffee. A masterpiece.
