Luffy has a Ballon fruit xD he can inflate by taking in air and the animal forms are like the balloon animals you can make by knotting them in different ways.

I feel like since sun wukong is immune to lightning and fire and all of luffy’s conquerors attacks are mythical creatures and the countless other connections it will end up being luffy’s true fruit but i don’t like the idea of him having to awaken it every time he wants to use it so I’m hoping his entire fruit evolves once he awakens

🧐Luffy's devil fruit is a "GUM" Fruit not a "Rubber" Fruit 😳 Luffy's Devil Fruit might be "AMBER RESIN" Devil fruit. Which Is a GUM from DEAD TREE (Electricity wont effect "DEAD WOOD" ) and becomes solid like "Diamond" as soon as its harden. which makes perfect sense, once heated the AMBER RESIN becomes GUM form which can stretch, Cool it down it becomes Strong like Diamond..

About the theory of Saru Saru no mi model Hanuman : it's the same as Sun Wukong.

It is widely believed that journey to the west was inspired from the tale of Hanuman.
As for stretching, Hanuman was able to shrink or expand his body at will, much like Sun Wukong's stick.
As for Resistance to lightening, both Hanuman and Sun Wukong are immune to lightening and fire.

Luffy also seems to be tolerant to extreme heat. Twice now he’s taken a blast breath head on and came out unfazed.

When he was lightning, he said it’s because he’s made of rubber. When Kaido asked him about tanking the blast breath, he didn’t have a legit answer, just says guts.

Akainu’s magma is the only fire based attack he’s taken damage from (correct me if I’m wrong). But even Ace took damage to that…

Yuderon posted a video about it being oil/resin.
Oil relating to the lubricant that Luffy uses for his different gear forms but also because it's not conductive.
I like the idea and I believe he said it would be the Abura Abura no mi.

I think that having a rubber body is just a prerequisite for the actual ability of the fruit whatever it may be. As luffy never knew his ability apart being rubber, he never had the chance to work on the actual ability (we all know how completely clueless luffy can be and any of the previous users also never knew the actual ability). As the awakening will be mainly focused on the actual ability of the fruit, it will reveal the original fruit which is feared by gorosei.

Not to say it is the Wukong fruit necessarily, but Wukong is immune to lightning and fire. So the lightning immunity actually fits quite well.

Something noteworthy that I don't see anyone talking about is that in chapter 1041 when Luffy uses hydra on Kaido they totally look like lightning strikes. Along with his flaming hair the panel before it and his usage of red-hawk representing fire.

I have done research on this after my Indian friend and I where talking about gods back in 2018 or 19 lol and she mentioned Hanuman. I thought of Luffy straight away. I didn’t see anyone with this Idea that Luffy is based off of Hanuman another monkey god.. everyone was believing he is based off Sun Wukong. Luffy fruit has similar abilities to Hanuman 8 Siddhi abilities
Anima – Ability to reduce one’s own body to the minutest size and shape - Gear 3 side effects mini Luffy
Mahima – Ability to expand one’s own body to an infinitely large size - Gear 3
Garima – Ability to become infinitely heavy (develop heaviness to extreme levels in - Tank Man
Laghima – Ability to become weightless (being light, able to float and fly) - Boundman
Prapti – Ability to be anywhere else at one’s will - Gear 2
Prakamya – Ability to obtain whatever one desires to have - Luffy sort of has this
Ishatva – Ability to have supremacy over the nature - Kings Haki
Vashitva – Ability to control the natural forces - Maybe Red Hawk/Red Roc… Fire element
Hanuman was cursed to forget his abilities as well. Which I believe now, that is equivalent to world government changing and hiding Gomu Gomu real DF name making everyone forget it’s true name and abilities.
My thoughts on Luffys awakening that is so devastating to the world government will be a ability to erase things.. like a actual rubber eraser.. probably not but it’s only a thought lol.
Hanumans weapon is a gada/Golden type of mace. I believe Luffy will wield a gada as his Yonko Weapon as well. I can see him wielding this well.
Also in the same mythology Ravan is which I believe is based on Blackbeard. Ravan is enemy with Hanuman and he has 10 heads… which I believe that’s what Blackbeards 10 Titanic captains are based off. Cheers

I still think that luffys fruit is actualy the mythical zoen human human model sun wukong . The fact that luffy is uneffected by lightning is still part of sun wukongs power . He went against all the deities and won(exept budah), thats becous most of them used lightning or fire . Sun wukong was uneffected by these powers and so is luffy . Or luffy is Hanuman the deitie that inspired Sun wukong as a story .

You were headed in the right direction by using facts we know about the fruit to include or exclude possibilities. A giant/stretching fruit wouldn't have any relationship with reducing electrical current (insulation) nor would it share any relationship with generating fire (Luffy generating flames for red hawk). Rubber is made from oil and oil shares both of those properties.

As for the deity stuff, regarding the references in story such as Hyogoro's and Who's Who mention of a deity... I think this is more symbolic than literal. I think Nika is not a real deity or mythical figure, but a person erased from history. I think Nika's story survived through oral history where the figure of Nika turned from person to legend to myth because we've only seen Nika explored by people from the countries of the Ancient Kingdom - the people in possession of poneglyphs but who are unable to read them. It would ensure the story lived on in the event nobody could read poneglyphs anymore.

I think Nika was a person who used to have this same Devil Fruit and the concept of Nika being a "Sun God" came from the powers of the Devil Fruit being able to generate flames like a burning sun, akin to Fisher Tiger's tattoo. Luffy can generate flames and if they are the same Devil Fruit, then Nika was able to as well. I think the Gorosei fear the awakening of the Devil Fruit because the awakening will breathe life into the oral history and possibly give Luffy an appearance akin to the one Nika is described to have. On top of that, if someone were to be able to read the right poneglyph which would convey the information about Nika and their powers, that person could connect Luffy to Nika and whatever other information about Nika and their life that is important.

his fruit could actually be a special paramecia and would either be called the Jushi Jushi no mi or the Abura Abura no mi as Abura & Jushi are the words for resin so he would have the resin devil fruit.

The problem with the resin fruit is that, there is a picture of a blue print from Vega Punk's lab, where it shows a fruit that looks like Gomu Gomu no mi, being fed to a rocket, and the product was a monkey with rockets.
