Thank you for clearing this issue up for us. For those wishing to return to China to teach, there is a lot of misinformation. The big recruiters still advertise as if everything is normal and PU letters are easy to obtain.
Your video casts a lot of light on this issue. I have canvased a number of the big recruiters and only one replied and was honest enough to say the provincial government will not support teacher visa application at this time.
We all need to be weary of advertisements and make the recruiters accountable and to tell the truth.
I can only assume with the loss of the big after school companies, there will be no problems filling other vacancies from within the existing pool of ESL teachers.
Of course, getting a straight answer in China has never been easy.

After school extra tuition known often as 'cram schools'. China has realised that 👀1. The pressure put on kids is as it certainly IS; unhealthy for them. 👀2. Often extra tuition can be afforded by richer families whilst the poorer families are at a disadvantage. Socially that is unacceptable. 👀3. Capitalism in the billions made by those unscrupulous individuals who take the money but seldom pay the taxes or conform to the Chinese regulations re businesses with ie HQ outside of China thus refusing to pay taxes etc is another reason. 👀Those from outside China who are anything but patriots and when they leave China are putting China down at every opportunity. They're basically hypocrites because they don't or won't acknowledge the true comparisons with their own country which sometimes is WORSE! 👀The Americans make BILLIONS a year from education and that includes (pre pandemic) millions made from FOREIGN STUDENTS including the Chinese.

While teaching at a university, I noticed a lot of foreign teachers come and go. Those who behaved inappropriately and complained about China in class forgot they were being evaluated in writing, by the students, twice during the semester. Bye Bye.

From my experience, English schools are shutting down all over China. My school used to have branches all over China but now, mine is the only one left despite a lot of new regulations and parents trying to get refunds.
