I love Northamption, a very interesting town where you can walk around. I felt like in England in Northamption.

I finally graduated in 1971, 5 years later than expected. Viet Nam war & confusion intruded into my life.

I applied to UMass/Amherst as an MFA graduate student (after attending Hampshire College as an undergrad), and I admit, it was my backup grad school choice. I remember the wind tunnel at the DuBois Library ALL TOO WELL. I used the DuBois Library the most out of all the consortium libraries. I also took a number of classes and workshops at UMass and worked on shows there too. I think UMass' facilities are incredible, but I ended up back in NYC for grad school. And Amherst Coffee was the BOMB. I 150% agree with you. Rao's Coffee (which is now Share Coffee) in Amherst, and The Haymarket Cafe in Northampton were also favorite hang out spots of mine.

I dated a gal who went to UMass Amherst once. I used to live in Boston but used to go "visit" (wink, wink) her there. We had our first date at an atmospheric cafe with lots of books in Northampton...

Kind of astonishing that you didn’t learn to pronounce the town that you allegedly spent 4 years living in.

You're still pronouncing the H in Amherst? Duude!

I'm glad I reconsidered coming to this dump...
