Read a quote once : Its part of a parents job to teach their children not to need them anymore. The hardest part of that job is accepting success.

My son graduated when he was 17. He left home and wound up living 300 miles away. He said it was time for him to make his mark on the world! I cried for weeks in his bedroom. Worried silly if he was ok and safe. He never came back to live, and yes, he made his mark on the world. He's become a rockstar and traveling the world. He's 50 now and loving every moment in life. Nivea is only in the next house near you. Cherish the time... before she flies away. Blessings to all of you. Jeremy you are so cute when your emotional about your kids.

In 2009 my daughter, our only child, got a college scholarship for cross country in Aberdeen South Dakota. We live in Spokane. Dropping her off and driving away made us cry for hundreds of miles. Brings a tear to my eye as I type this. We were not even there for her 18th birthday. Tough tough tough. Her only boyfriend, since they were 15, also got a scholarship there. Both of them never dated anyone else. This year they celebrate 10 years of marriage and moved firm North Carolina back to Spokane with our 3&6 year old grand children. All worked out. Romans 8:28

Happy birthday to all three of

Our three children are 25, 23, 21. We homeschooled them through 8th grade and raised them to be independent, to succeed, to fly the nest. Two are out of the house and M3 is entering her senior year of college. Watching them do what God designed them to do, watching them put into practice all we taught them, and watching them put faith into action drowns out the sad emotions and allows an entire new joy to flood in. You will always be a family of 6, plus the future spouses, and your children will still seek out youy advice and your hugs because that is the type of family you are. ❤

as a 72 year old grandfather of 10 let me say this. I can tell by the way your children were raised, no matter what your children decide as they get older, they will NEVER be far from you guys. They love you guys more than you realize. God Bless you all. Oh ya, one more thing, Jeremy doesn't look a day over 30. Did I do good brother? lol

Y'all had me in tears with You are My Sunshine! My dad was in the army during WW II. He would write letters to my mom, telling her she was his sunshine! The song what's their favorite song! My mother had pancreatic cancer. We had a family get together, a live celebration if you will! She had everybody sing You are My Sunshine! Then we wheel her down to the river, in her wheelchair. On the way back there was this hibiscus tree, with these big beautiful white flowers. We picked one and put it behind her ear. She died three days later! So this song has a real special place in my heart! And yes will bring tears to the 65-year-old Man's eyes every time he hears it! Y'all stay safe!

I struggled with my oldest turning 18 and graduating HS. At her graduation a parent who lost their child in middle school was behind me crying the whole time. The Lord used that to show me what a blessing this season of life is. That shifted my whole perspective. God Bless you all and Happy Birthday to all 3!

I had tears while watching the end with you both talking. I felt all the emotions over again. Having been through it six times already with mine, it never got easier as they turned 18. Nobody can warn you what an empty nest feels like. However the grand baby stage is a whole new level of love. Sending you big hugs from New Zealand.

My wise and insightful 18 year old daughter once said to us when we were struggling with what our role now was that we needed to trust that we did a good job raising her and now needed to transition from being the enforcer to the influencer. I thought that hit the nail on the head. It gave her some freedom but we still had input.

As parents I think one of the hardest things in life is raising your children to be good adults and then allowing them to be those adults. At 68 yrs old I now see the other side of it. I see my sons who have young children trying to figure out how to raise them. My son asked me "Mom how did you guys do it? How did you allow us to do the things we did without freaking out?" I told him, we freaked out, we prayed, we checked up on you, we did all of that, we just didn't let you know it. I think we are getting "back to family" in the world, we surely need to. So glad you built the apartment, it is a great option for your kids.

My 18 year old son left for university. I cried for weeks. It’s such a big change. He’s just going into his third year. It’s still just as hard when he goes back and I don’t see him for months. I still struggle. I have to remind myself that I’ve given him the confidence to fly. You’ve done exactly the same. Congratulations on that special achievement.❤

When my oldest was born, someone told me; "don't blink". Three kids of my own and thirteen grandkids later I realize I should have taken that advice maybe a little more serious

Happy birthday all. What an exciting transition. My only child flew the nest at 17 for a university out of state. He thought it would be easy on his own but he soon realized how much mom and dad did for him. It was touching to see how grateful he was for all we did for him. He did figure it out eventually thank goodness. I love that you are helping your kid’s transition to adulthood at a kinder pace. My son is now 25 and a third year medical student. Every year with my boy gets better and better. Parenthood is the most rewarding journey ❤

I’m bawling here, we also have a 17-year-old daughter who will be 18 in November and we are also building our final home and we are building her an attached apartment. Very sensitive and touched home and made me cry before I was supposed to lol

The end has me in tears because that was the song I sang to my baby girl who is now 29 about to be 30. She moved off north to Minnesota from our home state of Texas. It was so hard when she left home because all you want is to protect them from all the evil in the world but you have to have faith in the way you taught them! I’m thankful I do get to see her next week.
It’s such a bitter sweet moment letting go of your baby into adulthood but you did a wonderful job raising her and she will always be your baby girl!
Happy birthday to all and wishing you all another great year! 🎉❤

Good afternoon family from the South African. Butt on chair, coffee in hand. I made it. I have two grown son's and from when they started to go out on their own, I had to stamp on my tongue not to say anything if they did not ask my opinion. It is very, very hard but over time you settle in and go with the flow/ Always remember that you created through the years the firm foundation of the right values for her and although she will make mistakes, she will always think back on things you said and the foundation of her up bringing. But it is very difficult to shut up and let them learn through their mistakes. My boy's are nearing their 50's and still I need to walk in a circle and talk me out of saying anything.
Well happy birthday to you three. May the year ahead be very very blessed for you three in particular and the whole family also. The 15th will be my turn to mature like a good red wine. Nope to old for birthdays these days. See you next Saturday.

My gosh I cried at the end because time passes by so fast and hearing your girls sing “ you are my sunshine “ brought back memories of my Mom singing that to not only my daughter but all the grandkids. She is in heaven now but I can’t still hear her voice. Thanks for the memory!

Oh my gosh!! More tears than usual! 😭😭😭 I remember how difficult this first milestone is.

My once 18 year old daughter is now 42. 😳😊
God has blessed us richly and we are closer now than ever.

You know what lies ahead will be great, but it is never the same as when God lent your children to you for 18 years, to live and grow under your roof. ❤

I feel you. We just moved our oldest into his dorm today. Tears spent, all after drop off, because we didn’t want him to feel guilty or upset. Can’t wait to see how your oldest spreads her wings. What an amazing home base for her.
