Baseball Funny Moment - Catcher's Trick Play Makes Everyone Else Look Like a Fool

Love how the pitcher comes in, basically telling him to stop fucking around.

Ok so I'll do my best to clear this up since it can be confusing at first. The catcher dropped the ball (unintentionally) and lost it (he really didn't know where it was). So, since he didn't know where it was, he acted like he did in order to keep the runner from advancing to second. He acted like he knew where it was just long enough for the pitcher to come in and grab the ball. If the catcher would have looked down and tried to find it, the runner would have easily advanced. Instead he acted like he knew exactly where it was so the runner wasn't going to try to advance to second base. It was a very smart move by the catcher.

One thing that cracked me up was the pitcher. He didn't know what was going on.

All of you people calling the catcher a fool have never played Baseball. It's an old trick to get the runner at first to attempt a steal and then throw him out. I used to do a similar trick at 3rd base where I would act like I tipped the ball up and over me and had no clue where it went but the pitcher would be right behind me waiting to throw to 3rd or 2nd.

I think the catcher was trying to make the runner think he'd lost the ball, so he'd run to second. Then he'd just pick it up and throw him out. But the pitcher got bored and ruined the fun. :p

Outfielders do this all the time too, pretend to lollygag to try and bait a runner.  I love it.  Part of what makes baseball great.

i am a catcher and that is a great trick i do something alot like that i act like i missed the ball and start running to the back stop and when they start to steal i just turn around and throw them out
