MLR 2020: League Format

The Major League Rugby 2020 League Format.

I went to RUNY at San Diego Legion this year. I’ve been to a Super Bowl, Big NBA games, English Premiership and I worked for an MLS team. The MLR experience was one of the best. The tickets are very cheap. They had several food trucks. The players happily took pics (Ryan Maytas) and offered to sign stuff for my kids. We bought 3 jerseys. My kids love to wear them to school on Fridays. It was superb. I quit the NFL cold turkey 4 years ago and stated following Rugby. After the game we walked on the field. So excited for this league! The attendance sometimes sucks because they’re not selling it properly. A lot of ex NFL fans like me would love it.🇺🇸🇨🇦🏉

This year Rugby World Cup will be a good place for usa eagles to test what they have gain from their own league.

I like everything except for starting in mid February. I wish it could be pushed later towards warmer weather.

I know MLR will livestream on ESPN+ -- but will the games be archived to watch later if i cant watch the game livestream?

Why do they play on soccer fields? I can't even see the 22-yard and try lines.

Hey MLR, does this mean the 1 seed in each conference gets a 1st round bye?

Conference systems don't work, just look at Super Rugby and the number of games being played for pride rather than any meaning halfway through the season. The top 2 rugby leagues in the world (Gallagher Premiership and Top 14) work because everyone plays everyone twice in a season. It also means that teams can play for position right through to the end of the season (just look how tight the Gallagher Premiership is this season). Conferences just make things confusing and put off people watching this great game. There is no reason for MLR to do this and teams are not spread out as much as Super Rugby. Just leave the competition as one league with the top 4 going into playoffs, this is what works best.
