Five Asteroids Which Could Possibly Hit Earth in 2024

Показать описание
NASA has reported that five dangerous asteroids will be inching towards earth in the coming days of 2024. In 2024, there are several large Near-Earth Objects that have been identified as "potentially hazardous" due to their close proximity to Earth.
These asteroids, which are estimated to be over 140 meters in diameter and have orbits that bring them within 0.05 astronomical units of Earth's path around the sun, are of particular interest to scientists because of the potential risk they may pose to our planet.
In this video, we'll be exploring some of the dangerous hazardous asteroids set to have close encounters with Earth in 2024.
1. 2013 NK4
This huge asteroid is estimated to measure between 1312 and 3280 feet across, that means it could be slightly larger than the world's tallest building structure burj khalifa. This object is set to fly past earth on upcoming April 15th, coming within a minimum distance of around 3.2 million miles at a speed of 60,480 kilometres per hour.
2. 2011 UL21
CNEOs Data indicates that asteroid 2011 UL21 measures between 5,577 to 13,123 feet across. This is potentially the largest asteroid that will make a close approach to Earth this year. During its approach, it will come as close as 5.9 million kilometers on June 27th 2024. According to NASA, the space rock is travelling at a speed of almost 93,240 kilometers per hour.
3. 2012 OD1
On July 28th, The third huge asteroid to pass near Earth is Asteroid 2012 OD1. During its approach, it will come as close as 5.7 million kilometres. According to NASA, the space rock measures between 1640 and 3937 feet across which is approximately equal to Angel Falls in Venezuela—the world's largest uninterrupted waterfall. It is travelling at a speed of almost 19080 kilometres per hour. It has been classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid by NASA.
4. 2007 FT3.
NASA has warned that an asteroid named 2007 FT3 may hit the planet on October 02, 2024. Due to its trajectory, the asteroid has been now picked up by the Sentry, NASA's impact monitoring system.
The space agency revealed that asteroid 2007 FT3 may hit the earth between 2024 and 2116. It should be noted that 2007 FT3 is an Apollo class asteroid, and it means the orbit of this space body will interact with that of the earth, as these rocks travel around the sun. If factors like gravitational keyhole affect the asteroid, then the chances of a mid-air collision will be increased dramatically.
As per the current analysis, asteroid 2007 FT3 is more than 1100 feet in length, and it is currently screeching through space at a speed of 46,000 miles per hour. If the asteroid hits the earth at such breath-taking speed, it will cause massive devastation on a regional scale.
5. 2020 XR
This huge asteroid is estimated to be around between 984 to 2,296 feet in diameter and will make its closest approach on December 04th at a distance of about 2.2 million miles.
While these asteroids may seem large and intimidating, it's important to remember that they pose no threat to Earth. In fact, close encounters like these provide an opportunity for scientists to study these asteroids and learn more about their composition and other characteristics.
