Cant find the link but i did read it in past as someone asked Kishimoto. Shikkotsu Forest is also linked to Katsuyu, the giant slug summoned by Tsunade (granddaughter of Hashirama) and Sakura.

and as was stated by frogs when Naruto trained, Sage mode can achieve only someone who already has an immense amount of chakra inside and guts to never give up..
