Spicy neutrals is a term that I think seeking shifts came up with first. She’s also a YouTuber here, she does a lot of multichrome‘s duochrome‘s etc., on her channel. She kind of disappeared this year, which of course worries me, but she was sort of the one that started it. Love that you’re doing this video by the way thank you!

Greens, purples and pinks are all neutrals and this is a hill I will die on. 😂

To me, the spice doesn’t refer to warm or cool, but rather to the unique take on a neutral, which as you said, is in the eye of the beholder. The originator of the “Spicy Neutral” term, Riley of SEEKING SHIFTS, used it to refer to unusual neutral single shadows. But now I think some of the more innovative brands (like Clionadh or Ensley Reign) have some very spicy neutrals in their palettes as well.

I don't buy palettes, so I just had to give a shout out to the OG spicy neutral single shadow– Unexpected, from JD Glow! 🙌🏻🖤✨

It's funny because back in the day I only wore "drag looks" (see my picture <) & laughed at the thought of neutral anything. Then at some point in early 2022 I became obsessed with "interesting neutrals" & made it my mission to find the most interesting & unique singles available. Since then so many have come out, but there was a time when the list was quite small! Clionadh opulent, devinah moonlit, jdglow unexpected & good gawd, & quite a few from looxi (starboy, adonis, angel wings etc) are on that list (RIP jdg & looxi). When Riley (seeking shifts) stepped on the scene & started doing content around "spicy neutrals" I was smitten!! I really hope she comes back to posting because she was such a bright light in the indie community!

My favorite spicy neutral palette is Amy Loves x Adept! 😊 I use it all the time and love the cool neutral glam looks I get but also every single look is just the most special. I def also love the Flying Fiddles for that "i want neutral but wait a second let me add something extra and make it special" just like you said. It's so perfect for that which is my mood often

My fave spicy neutrals are ER Cold Moon, Glaminatrix Barely Basic and Adept Legend of Ardra. Almost all of the shimmers in Adept LoA are neutrals plus I see 3 of the mattes as neutral (I wear purple a lot so it became a neutral in my eyes😆).
