2023 TEEA Civic/Community Winner: City of Plano

Live Green in Plano is the City of Plano's Sustainability and Environmental Education Division (SEED). It provides education and outreach on environmental topics such as air quality, energy conservation, renewable energy, waste minimization, recycling, water conservation, sustainable gardening, and litter abatement.
Staff and volunteers regularly meet with the public, including elementary schools, to provide lessons and host field trips to the Environmental Education Center. During Covid-19 they responded with online and virtual content, including one that has become standard training for all city employees. With their content and outreach programs they have reached thousands of people.
