IBM PS/1 386 PC computer (Type 2121) - Modifications & Upgrades - CF card / Case Fan / Sound Card
Показать описание
The IBM PS/1 Type 2121 is a great base vintage/retro PC computer to modify and upgrade. The 386 processor runs most early 90s DOS games well. Enjoy your old DOS and Windows 3.11 experience all over again!
The video covers three main hardware upgrades:
1) Replacing the IDE hard drive with a CF card. Parts needed:
- CF Flash Card to 40 pin IDE 3.5" Male Adapter with slot bracket
- 40 pin (female) to 40 pin (female) IDE cable
- 4 Pin molex (male) to mini spox (female) power adapter
- CF card (2GB maximum to support MS-DOS 6.22). A more reliable and much quieter solution when compared to the old IDE drive.
2) Replacing the original case fan. Parts needed:
- Noctua NF-A4x20 FLX, 12v Premium Quiet Fan, 3-Pin (40x20mm, Brown). Use the included omnijoin adapters to link the 3-pin male plug to original fan cable. The Low-Noise Adaptors will also reduce rpm of the new fan if you want it even quieter. Fan should be fitted to extract air out of case.
3) Installing a sound card. Parts needed:
- ES1868f Audio Drive ISA sound card. Offers excellent Sound Blaster Pro 2 compatibility, with low noise. Drivers are available online.
- DreamBlaster Synth S2 General MIDI Daughterboard, allowing General MIDI playback in DOS and Windows.
