True to that, born and raised in Hungary, later moved to the US it is so strange that we have all kinds of safe spaces but not actual ones….

Most people cant afford this but its fascinating, ive seen some nice accessible ones on youtube which are essentially like a viking mound hut house dug into the land like a trench, fortified with sandbags. They are also hidden since the roof is esssnetially a grass mound, then you can pour concrete in for the foundation at ones discretion with your choice of generators. Here in northern north America its very remote and easy realistic, im sure most in north American can as well, just keep your terrain in mind

The most important item for a bunker is the AIR System. The Swiss made kind. But from what I've heard Demand is unreal and so is the waiting list.

have a bible in your prep kit, even if you think it's bogus now - you will come to see how valuable it is Nate. And they will be hard to come by in the near future.

I would also suggest storing some dried lichen in the bunker. It’s a traditional off-grid way of regulating the air humidity. We put it between window panes at the cabin, in my country. It removes moisture from the air. Then a natural way to purify air and provide oxygen (and enhance the mood) would be to have a green wall of suitable plants but that might require a bigger space and evolved hydroponics.
