The 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy Is A Shrunken Palisade-Like Family SUV

The #HyundaiSantaFe was the first-ever SUV from Hyundai over 20 years ago. The latest 2021 version is the most powerful and most luxury Santa Fe yet. This new #SantaFeCalligraphy is a redesigned disguised as a refresh. Under the slightly tweaked sheetmetal is the same all-new platform that underpins the new Kia Sorento, along with the same 2.5L turbo engine and 8-speed wet DCT. Its the most impressive #Hyundai #SantaFe yet, and for those of you looking at the #HyundaiPalisade in a smaller package, its the perfect alternative.

Happy Saturday everyone! This is probably the most comprehensive refresh we've ever seen in the mainstream segment, but under the tweaked sheetmetal lies a new platform, all-new engines, and an updated interior. Seems like Hyundai has captured a lot of what we liked in the Palisade, into the slightly smaller Santa Fe.

Just bought a 2022 hyundai santa fe limited hybrid. Seriously best car ever. We test drove and researched over 10+ cars. Hyundai is in a league of its own. Plus a 10 year 100, 000 mile warranty to throw in the mix.

the fact that this SUV, not made for performance, can go 0-60 in the 6 second range is already very impressive.

Hyundai and Kia are so far ahead of the rest of mainstream auto manufacturers it’s actually comical 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I like it when manufacturers use the same engine across a wide variety of vehicles and platforms. Maybe I'm wrong, but it tells me that they have a great deal of confidence in it's performance and reliability, which for Hyundai and Genesis is a big deal due to the fact that they have to stand behind their drivetrains for ten years.

Good review thanks. I’ve had the Calligraphy model for about 6 months now and have been very happy with it. With respect to your comment on the lag. I don’t find it to be a problem in everyday driving. Sure, if you slam the gas pedal straight to the floor it will take a bit of time to get up and running (like any other vehicle I’ve driven) but if you moderate your throttle input, then it responds quickly and it gets off the mark very well. Overall I find the 2.5T and wet dual clutch transmission to be excellent.

I just picked up a 22 limited a month ago. So far I love it. Worth every penny. Kinda funny cause they are rare to find right now in socal. I feel like a lot of people have gotten the Palisade over these.

I was waiting for this video for long time, I really respect your opinion on cars.
I'm glad you like it, because I purchased one 3 months ago and I like it a lot, is the calligraphy with the 20" wheels white.
Thanks for your review.

this is what i have for my work vehicle. it's great. quiet, comfortable, loaded with tech, and the storage bins under the floor behind the 2nd row are really useful for my work parts!

That T in the headlights look a lot like the Thor’s hammer on the Volvos.

Love the new Santa Fe so much I bought one about a month or two ago. Just wish I got the calligraphy.

Alex Dykes tested the 0-60 on the ‘19-‘20 model and his result was 7.5 seconds - of course keeping in mind that Alex will warn you not to compare his testing with other car journalist across the board due to location/elevation, road surface/condition, etc…. But that gives you an idea that you can get an estimated second shaved off from the pre-refreshed model.

Watching the Review again. This is my favorite review of this car. Well done! I came back to see the specs on the Engine. Really prefer the 2.5L Engine. Worth the money for the added power. Surprised to see it runs on Regular gas! Cool! This is an astounding car!

Great review as always but weird the 0-60 times were so slow. Granted 6.5-6.7 is not slow for something this big but Car and Driver got 6.0 multiple times and Motor Trend got 6.2. I would imagine they hot it without the lag.

This vehicle would make me go a little over budget than what I wanna spend on a new vehicle really like this one 👍

Very nice. One of the few refreshes that looks good inside and out.

I just bought a 2023 Santa Fe Calligraphy this week. I think the lag you're feeling is likely the Auto Idle function that kicks in when you're stopped. You have to disable that or you're mashing the gas then waiting for it to start, then take off. Push the top button to the left of the mode dial to disable the feature (light comes on to indicate it's off...weird?). Problem solved. The only problem is that you have to disable it each time you restart the car.
