As long as we keep playing two CDMs we'll have trouble creating chances. People have been clamouring for Southgate to take off the handbrake for over 18 months. He's too negative. Why have wingbacks if they're not allowed to cross the half way line? There was nobody running past Kane.

The positive here is England couldn't have played any worse if they tried whereas Scotland played out of their skins and it was still a draw. In fact, England had the best chance with Stones.

Replace Phillips with another creative player and this team will score bagfuls of goals.
