JJ'S Guitar Pickups: Chef's Special HS Vintage

These little Charvel Pro-Mod HS HT's are few and far between, so when I spotted this one I couldn't resist. Caveat: It had hot pickups in it. They had to go and make way for something subtler, hopefully from the workbench of one Mr Ben Bailey of JJ's Pickups, Australia. I asked Ben to wind a Sovereign '59 with a coil split and a matching single coil for the neck, something of his '65 variety. Ben researched, wound and had these two delivered to me inside 48 hours which is incredible and I'm very grateful - but not surprised as he runs an incredibly efficient and top-shelf business. Anyway, here they are, and if you like them, Ben will wind some for you too. Rock on.

Sweet sounding pickups. I'm doing a tele build and these might be just the ticket.

Very nice indeed. I have a hardtail Strat HSS, it sounds way beefier than one with a trem. It That Charvel really works well with those pickups, JJ's know what they are doing indeed.

JJ's make great pick-ups. I've got them in a couple of my guitars. It's my pet peeve that so many guitars have quite hot pick-ups in them too.

The high roll off with the volume has me wanting to know your thoughts on treble bleeds....
