"Oh honey, let's build our dream home on top of that famous volcano, we'll have a blast"!

I took a bus tour to Pompeii in from Rome a number of years ago. Pompeii was magical but of interest here was the 2 hour bumper to bumper traffic through Naples. How could that Metropolitan region possibly be evacuated in hours or even days. It would take weeks and if an eruption was proceeded by sizeable earthquakes, half the roads and highways would be rendered impassable. It would be Pompeii on steroids.

There is a third active volcano in the Gulf of Naples : Mount Epomeo in the Ischia island, each volcano has its own magma chamber.

I climbed etna in February of this year. It was magical and covered in snow. The size of the lava bombs and the strong sulphur smell was eye opening!!

Interesting, but incomplete. The advent of seismic tomography shows that Vesivius has several feeder magma chambers laid over the top of each other, one feeding the other. Even more interesting is that there is a very deep source chamber which supplies both chambers. This implies both Vesuvius and Campi Flegrei are part of one much larger supervolcano. They also dont talk about the different types of pyroclastic flows. The column collapse flow and the more deadly base surge that engulfed Herculaneum

This volcano could in theory change the world, it will affect the weather to the rest of the world and there for the growing of food, and feeding of animals for humans to consume, not to mention the volcanics ice age that could happen, . This is not just a problem for Italy, it's a problem for us all

Fascinating video! I certainly learned new stuff from it about this lurking monster. Never knew they had to measure the gas / temperature at night. Or that that particular area was expanding. None of this is good news...

I am not a professional, but there are too many inaccurate statements. At @16:05 "the African Plate Slides under the Eurasian Plate" This is TRUE, this is call Subduction. The fusing of the Rocks does not make "Subduction" Subduction is the process of one plate disappearing under the other plate. @16:26 the "magma combined with gas" is not totally accurate either. Magma always has some gas. Especially when it is being created from subduction. The water trapped in the descending plate will turn to gas under pressure, then as it climbs higher up the magma tube, the gas expands make the eruption more explosive. Do your research.

I've been following the development of the Cambi flegrei, i.e. burning fields supervolcano, situation for a year on the channel called "on the Pulse with Silki". The situation has been really worrying for me for the past six months. if the situation escalates, let's all do our best to survive in the future. hopefully there would be no eruption.

I was stationed in Naples (AFRSOUTH) from 1981 - 1984, We had earthquakes around Pozzuoli and it was evacuated. The US Forces had a Recreation area in a Crater just west of the crater that explodes in the video. Our main base was in Angano with Naval support base about 2 miles away. They have are now moved north.

On a visit to the area I asked residents if they were concerned about eruption. “Oh no, our government will give us plenty of warning”.
My take - no chance in hell to evacuate any of the cities. They do not have super highways like in Florida or the Gulf states for hurricanes. As one person says below it would take months, and then to where? Hang on folks, it is going to get interesting from here.

The problem is, no matter how much time they may get in advance, it won't be enough to evacuate 3 million people. They would need weeks, perhaps months. Science today is not that good yet, and the best they may do is hours.

Visited Pompei a second time in 2023 and was exposed to an interesting bit of data. Most visitors are amazed by the deep wheel ruts in the main thoroughfares, indicating that the ancient carts were shod with iron rims cutting into the stone tarmac. Curiously, no remains of iron wheel rims or the rusted impressions have to date been recovered which leads to the speculation that the bulk of the cart owning people were able escape from the city prior to the ultimate demise as the volcano struck to cover the settlement.

Its amazing thinking of filling the cavities where bodies layed with plaster to really understand how quickly they were overcome by the volcano.

Although this was only put out on 7th Nov 2024 why do I feel it has already been shown on this channel months ago! I understand that clips are used multiple times, but I just felt like I was watching a repeat.

Wouldn't Mt Etna be like a release valve for the other volcanos in the relative vicinity?
In other words: if Mt Etna was blocked, would the others become way more active and erupt regularly?
