4-0 in superbowls, 11 touchdowns with no interceptions? That's hard to beat.

I love how Joe Montana and Jerry RIcE are the most iconic QB/WR duo and both are known for not even being the best gifted player but are the best for their work ethic.

I lived through Montana's career as a Bears fan. When you beat Montana, you really felt like you accomplished something because he had that aura of invincibility. So, you were so relieved when he looked human and so surprised when his team lost. He was the best in his era. Like Brady now, all opponents felt trepidation in the face of Joe Cool. Some folks in these threads are all about stats, but how about trusting those of us who've lived through multiple football eras. How about going with we older guys who can vividly recall feeling when watching these guys play. Well, how I felt, was that it was incredible to watch Joe when Bears didn't play him and I trembled when they did even in '85. Montana was that good. Everyone felt it. I get the same feeling from Brady today. Some guys just come across as invincible before taking the first snap.

Montana kind of reminded me of Larry Bird: looking at them you may chuckle b/c they weren't at all prototypical for their sports or positions but they were both gonna beat you every time. They knew it and so did you.

Glad I was able to watch him play all through the 80's. He was incredible.

He was the Michael Jordan of Pro Football 🏈 QBs

They dominated in pressure moments that mattered most

Underrated. The Leonard Marshall hit stopped a 3 peat.
Montana would have also won another ring for sure.
6 rings in 11 years would be well within scope. Amazing

We know Tom has more rings and has some amazing moments. But the thing about Montana is that he was 4-0 and really, his career was essentially done after his terrible injury. He was 4-0 in about half the time Tom will have played when he's done.
Not surprisingly, Tom grew up as a 49ers fan and idolized Joe Montana. It's crazy that the two most clutch and best QBs to play the game were linked in that way. Not a coincidence. Tom wanted to be Joe. They're the NFL's version of MJ and Kobe.

I don’t care what nobody say! I still consider Joe Montana to be the GOAT! I don’t care what whiny, narcissistic Patriot fans say. 4 Super Bowls played, 3 time SB MVP; 11 TD passes 0 int; Brady never did that like EVER. But Joe Montana made everybody better. As a Chiefs fan, he got us closest to the Super Bowl then the team had been in years! He had average weapons, a great line, and a HOF running backs, Davis and Birden naturally got better having Montana as the quarterback and his connection with both grew. I loved the 1993 year. He was outstanding in the postseason.
